Manufacturing wooden ballet barres from American Oak is an easy job, as it is a great timber to work with. It is easy to glue, easy to machine, and for the end user, is easy to finish with either a clear lacquer or a stain.

A few times a year we make a couple of hundred metres of 48mm round American Oak dowel for a local client. This primarily gets used as ballet barre in dance studios not just here in Australia, but also overseas.

Although it is more expensive than our Victorian Ash dowel that we make and stock in 43mm and 50mm sizes; the fantastic look of the end product more than makes up for the price difference.
