Description
Where would you normally use Stainless Wire Balustrade Kit 4A?
For hydraulically swaged 4mm cable balustrading between timber posts. (Not suitable for metal posts)
This kit can be used for both horizontal and angled (stair) balustrades.
What parts make up the kit?
1 x SSW100-6 (Long Fork Bottle Screw for 4mm Wire)
1 x SSW101-6 (Fork Terminal for 4mm Wire)
2 x SSW054-6 (Coach Screw - 40mm)
What are the fittings made out of?
316 Stainless Steel, which means they can be used both in external and internal applications.
Which wire cable rope is best suited?
The fittings will work only with 4mm stainless wire cable rope.
1 x 19 configuration for the cable is the best fit, but 7 x 7 and 7 x 19 will also work.
Which tools do I need?
The SSW100-6 (Bottle Screw) and SSW101-6 (Fork Terminal) require the use of the IF120X (Hydraulic Swager) to fasten the fitting to the wire.
Other tools that will be handy to complete the job are IF122X (Wire Cutter), IF133X (Spanner Tensioner) and IF114X (Coach Screw Drive Bit).
Without regular cleaning and maintenance discolouration of the surface of the stainless steel by corrosion (tea staining) can occur.

Stainless steel cleaning schedule
The frequency of cleaning will vary depending on environmental factors i.e. proximity to the ocean, atmospheric and urban conditions. Below is intended as a guide and should be varied as required. We recommend using peek stainless steel polish for maintenance.
| Environment | Distance from Coastline | Cleaning Schedule |
|---|---|---|
| Clean inland environment | 20km + | Every 10 - 12 Months |
| Moderate urban or coastal environment | 1-5km | Every 4 - 6 Months |
| Harsh urban or coastal environment | < 500m | Every 2 - 3 Months |
| Severe coastal/ marine environment | < 500m | Every 1 - 2 Weeks |
