Description
Where would you normally use an intermediate stainless steel post?
To structurally support a wire cable balustrade on a deck or balcony.
On a wire balustrade, you need to have a support post approximately every 1.5 metres (when using 3.2mm wire cable).
The minimalist look of the intermediate post allows you to space your major posts every 3 metres, with the intermediate post going in between.
What handrail can be used with this post?
In most cases, the minimum height for a wire balustrade is 1 metre (1000mm) in height (measured from the deck to the top of handrail). The post is supplied slightly over size, but can be trimmed back to 960mm, so that when used with a round handrail over 40mm in diameter, the 1 metre requirement can be achieved.
Does it come pre-drilled?
Yes. There are 11 pre-drilled holes, spaced 80mm apart to conform to wire balustrade regulations (once trimmed back to 960mm).
What is it made out of?
316 Stainless Steel in a Mirror Finish.
What are the important dimensions?
Maximum Height: 1000mm, but can be trimmed back on one end to meet the minimum requirement of 960mm.
Diameter: 12mm
Note: The top cradle and bottom base plate can be removed via a small grub screw that fixes them to the post. The reason for this, is that you may want to trim the post back if using it with other stainless posts that we sell which are a fixed height of 960mm.
When securing the cradle and base plate back to the post, we would recommend a suitable adhesive be used as well as the grub screw.
How should you fasten it to the ground/deck?
Due to the wide range of potential surfaces, we do not supply fasteners.
We recommend speaking to your local hardware store or builder for advice on suitable fixings.
Without regular cleaning and maintenance discolouration of the surface of the stainless steel by corrosion (tea staining) can occur.

Clean inland environment | 20km + | Every 10 - 12 Months |
Moderate urban or coastal environment | 1-5km | Every 4 - 6 Months |
Harsh urban or coastal environment | < 500m | Every 2 - 3 Months |
Severe coastal/ marine environment | < 500m | Every 1 - 2 Weeks |
