Description

Where would you normally use handrail brackets for glass?
To fix a piece of handrail to toughened glass ranging from 10 to 15mm thick.

What is the bracket made from?
316 Stainless Steel in a Mirror finish.
This bracket is for EXTERIOR or INTERIOR use.

Which handrails does this bracket suit?
There are 3 different cradles available for this bracket. 1 to suit 50mm round handrail, 1 to suit 38mm round handrail and 1 to suit flat handrail. Please let us know which one you require using the drop down list.

How does it fix to the glass?
The base screws off allowing the end of the bracket (18mm diameter) to fit into a hole that would need to be drilled into the glass. You would then screw the base back on until tight.
To protect the glass, plastic rubbers are supplied with the bracket.

Product Dimensions

The distance from the glass to the centre of the handrail is 80mm.
Spacing between brackets depends a lot on the type of handrail and timber you use; but anywhere from 900 to 1500mm is a good guide.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Without regular cleaning and maintenance discolouration of the surface of the stainless steel by corrosion (tea staining) can occur.

How to reduce the risk of tea staining

  • Absence of corrosives – especially salt, chlorine, cleaning acids etc.
  • Atmospheric Conditions – lower temperatures and low humidity are better.
  • Surface orientation – Open exposure to rain washing is better
  • Surface Finish – In general a smoother finish is better. where practical mirror polish finish may perform better than a brushed finish.
  • Chemical cleanliness or passivation of the surface improves corrosion resistance
  • Appropriate grade selection for conditions
  • Regular Maintenance to limit the accumulation of corrosives

Stainless steel cleaning schedule

The frequency of cleaning will vary depending on environmental factors i.e. proximity to the ocean, atmospheric and urban conditions. Below is intended as a guide and should be varied as required. We recommend using peek stainless steel polish for maintenance.

Environment Distance from Coastline Cleaning Schedule
Clean inland environment 20km + Every 10 - 12 Months
Moderate urban or coastal environment 1-5km Every 4 - 6 Months
Harsh urban or coastal environment < 500m Every 2 - 3 Months
Severe coastal/ marine environment < 500m Every 1 - 2 Weeks
