Description
Where would you normally use treated timber verandah posts?
As a decorative support post, perhaps on a balcony or verandah.
What is it made out of?
Plantation grown Radiata Pine that has been finger jointed and laminted for stability.
It is H3 treated for external application, and is suitable for above ground use.
The photo shows that the un-machined part of the post has a grey coloured primer/undercoat already on it.
This use to be how we supplied it, but this is now no longer the case.
It is now supplied un-primed, which is the same as how our turned posts have been manufactured for the past 20 years.
How should you finish it?
A water-based primer/undercoat is not a necessity (although it wouldn’t hurt), but at least 2 coats of the final colour is a must.
Leaving it unfinished, oiling it or using a clear lacquer is not recommended.
Speak to your local paint retailer for more info.
