Description
A 50mm diameter, 180° handrail return manufactured from Pine.
Ideal for commercial applications where the handrail must return back on itself to meet building code requirements, or residential projects where accessibility is a priority.
Supplied as a three-piece kit with joining dowels. Glue sold separately.
Overall: 50mm diameter turning through 180 degrees with an internal radius of 60mm
Where would you normally use an 180-degree timber handrail fitting?
Timber handrail fittings are used to finish the end of a handrail, particularly in commercial applications where the building code requires a 180° return to finish.
What is it made out of?
Plantation grown Radiata Pine that has been laminated and finger-jointed.
How do you assemble the kit?
A 16mm joiner dowel is supplied to connect the two 90° bends together. The end cap is turned with a 16mm dowel to suit the corresponding hole in the bend. Simply glue all components together during assembly (adhesive not included). A small amount of sanding may be required to achieve a smooth, seamless finish.
How do you fix it to the handrail?
Drill a 16mm hole into the end of your handrail. Using the supplied 16mm multi-groove dowel and a suitable wood adhesive, join the handrail to the assembled bend. Once the glue has cured, a small amount of sanding may be required to achieve a smooth, seamless finish.
How should you finish it?
As the handrail (to which the bend will be joined) has finger-jointing which is visible, we suggest that it should only be used for painting purposes.
If wanting to stain and lacquer, we suggest using the Vic Ash or American Oak version of the same product.
